The 2017 weight-loss study estimated that obese adults can lose as much as 12.5% of their weight in a year, but they can also lose up to 27% of their weight in a decade. Some people are able to lose weight, or stay at a healthy weight. And while there are factors that must be taken into account to achieve that weight loss, there are also simple ways to achieve it.
Some good news: It’s extremely difficult to stick to a diet for life. Unlike many diets that require intermittent fast food or cheat days, a healthy diet doesn’t have to be any one plan, only the one that works for you.
And who isn’t looking for a quick and easy way to achieve a healthy weight loss? Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, recently published in the American Journal of Medicine a 12-point dietary guideline to help Americans get back on track with a diet.
So what is it about these various weight-loss personalities that makes it so hard to stick to a healthy diet?
Type 1 is the self-perpetuating fool:
A Type 1 deceases by one form or another in nearly half of the world’s people, so while the number of people with Type 1 diabetes has fallen by 75% over the past 30 years, Type 1 is still prevalent in more than 2 million Americans.
Type 1 Dopes are dependent on calories to survive. They can easily meet their dietary needs by eating out at fast food joints, buying extra food to fill up their supersized plates and eating plenty of sweets and junk food. And most of them have no control over what they eat, thanks to a low self-control capability.
Type 2 is the balanced dieter:
The Type 2 complainer is more likely to be female and older.
Type 2 complainer eat to burn more calories and reach their recommended daily amount, but the average person gets less than half of that.
The Type 2 complainer is multi-tasking: They eat both at home and at work or school, which explains why they’re on diets for so long.
The Type 2 complainer don’t have a high amount of body fat, but they eat constantly and eat refined sugars that trigger their cravings for sweets.
Type 3 is the person who is really motivated to lose weight:
A Type 3 complainer is more likely to be female and less likely to be obese. They eat healthy and get the recommended daily amount of calories.
The Type 3 complainer are more likely to stop their diet if their goals aren’t met, which also is likely to be the reason their diet will last only as long as they allow themselves to follow it.
And a Type 3 complainer may not follow a diet at all because they know they’ll lose weight on certain foods, which makes them feel very good about themselves.
You don’t need to take a diet to the extreme; you just need to follow the three types of dieters suggested by the CDC. That way, you can prevent some of the habits of the typical Type 1s, Type 2s and Type 3s.
